In the throbbing heart of Europe, Budapest, 1913, a hopeful young woman named Irisz Leiter steps off a train. Her aim? To claim her birthright as a milliner at the illustrious hat store, once owned by her late parents. However, the new proprietor, Oszkár Brill, dismisses her with a cold shoulder. As the Leiter hat store buzzes with preparations for incoming guests of paramount importance, the unexpected arrival of a man searching for a certain Kálmán Leiter disrupts Irisz's world. Rather than leaving the city as dismissed, she decides to delve into the labyrinth of Budapest in pursuit of Kálmán's shadow, the only tether to her enigmatic past. Her journey plunges her into the murky underbelly of the city, where amidst the encroaching darkness, only the beacon of the Leiter hat store offers respite. Irisz's quest unravels against the backdrop of a civilization teetering on the brink of collapse, setting up a riveting narrative of discovery and resilience.
