In its heyday, the "Strange Fruit" band was an electrifying rock phenomenon. They had it all: fame, wealth, success, a loyal legion of groupies, and even a frontman who tragically succumbed to a fatal overdose. Their sensational demise was as theatrical as their rise, with a lightning bolt striking their stage during an open-air concert, signalling the end of an era. Now, twenty years later, the once wild and glamorous rock gods have slipped into the shadows of obscurity, their former rockstar lives replaced by mundane day jobs and ordinary pursuits. Tony Costello (Stephen Rea), the former keyboard virtuoso, finds himself unable to shake off the nostalgia of their glory days.
