In the tumultuous aftermath of Yippie founder Abbie Hoffman's retreat into the shadows to evade a looming drug-related prison sentence, he reaches out to an initially disbelieving reporter. His aim: to reveal the FBI's clandestine operations involving surveillance, provocation of violence, and a blame game squarely targeting the Left. As the doubtful journalist embarks on a trail of interviews, our narrative weaves through the perspectives of key figures in Hoffman's life. These include Anita, his wife and a single mother struggling on welfare in the heart of New York City, and the tenacious Gerry Lefcourt, Hoffman's attorney. The unfolding tale retraces Hoffman's life journey, from his early days as a civil rights organizer to the infamous trial of the Chicago Eight, all brought to life through a series of evocative flashbacks. Meanwhile, Hoffman's life in hiding takes a dramatic turn as his mental health begins to falter and he encounters Johanna Lawrenson, leading to the formation of an unconventional family unit: Abbie, Anita, their son, and Johanna. As the narrative twists and turns, one question lingers: Will Hoffman ever find the redemption he seeks?
