The gem, currently in the iron grasp of Narbonne, is not just a symbol of wealth and power, but a coveted peace token for the Dutch government. Its return to its Indian devotees is a promise of tranquility. Amidst the opulent grandeur of Narbonne's château, Pierre finds himself embroiled in a whirlwind of intrigue as King Louis IV, with an eye for the sapphire as a gift for his court-favorite Mme. de Montespan, pays a visit.
Unraveling the mystery, Pierre discovers the 'Star' concealed in the very hilt of Narbonne's sword. He boldly challenges Narbonne to a duel, wrestles control of the sword, and liberates the jewel.
