Amidst the glitz and glamour of a society dance aboard a gambling ship, high-spirited couple Nick and Nora Charles find themselves entwined in a web of intrigue and suspicion. The festive veneer of the charity benefit they're attending thinly veils simmering tensions, with the epicenter being the ship's band leader, the spiteful and widely disliked Tommy Drake. When Drake's life is abruptly extinguished, the spotlight of suspicion illuminates newlywed Phil Brant, who had a heated disagreement with the band leader earlier in the evening.
