Son of Godzilla (1967)

In the heart of the Pacific, on the lush tropical Solgel Island, a team of ambitious scientists are immersed in ground-breaking weather manipulation experiments. Their peaceful research is disrupted by the arrival of the Kamakaras - enormous preying mantises towering at a daunting 25 feet. Undeterred, the scientists proceed with their experiment, which backfires disastrously, sparking a radioactive storm that catapults the temperature to an unimaginable two hundred degrees. This unnatural heatwave triggers an unexpected side effect: the Kamakaras grow to an even more terrifying 100 feet. Drawn by an unseen force, these gargantuan mantises uncover a colossal mound, revealing a gigantic egg. From this egg hatches Minilla, the young offspring of the legendary Godzilla. As chaos unfolds, the king of monsters himself, Godzilla, emerges onto the scene, saving his young progeny from the gigantic predators. The remainder of the film is a heart-warming, and at times, thrilling portrayal of Godzilla nurturing and tutoring Minilla in the ways of the monster world, preparing him to someday inherit the title of "King of Monsters". All the while, they battle not just the Kamakaras, but a new adversary - Kumoga, a colossal spider. "Son of Godzilla" is a tale of survival, mentorship, and the primal bond between a father and son, set against a backdrop of scientific ambition gone awry.
