Aunt Emma Bates, an unassuming spinster portrayed by Zasu Pitts, escapes the monotony of her life, dominated by her two overbearing sisters, to immerse herself in the pulsing heart of the "Big Town". She intends to witness a boxing match featuring Mickey O’Banion, the son of her long-lost love and a former boxing champion. In the midst of the electrifying arena, Emma finds herself seated next to Terry, a diligent reporter embodied by Roger Pryor, who is entangled in a dangerous mission to locate Rex Crenshaw, the elusive lawyer of notorious gangster "Flower" Henderson.
