Plot

Caught in the perplexing paradox of time, Billy Pilgrim finds himself 'unstuck', sliding uncontrollably yet consciously between distinct epochs of his existence. His life, fragmented and scattered across the cosmos, pulls him into three primary realms. Firstly, his past as a pacifist GI during World War II, where he serves as a Chaplain's assistant, experiencing the trauma of Dresden's firebombing and the raw humanity of fellow POWs - the compassionate Edgar Derby, and the brash Paul Lazzaro. Secondly, he's yanked into his life as an optometrist in the quiet town of Ilium, New York. Here, he navigates the labyrinth of domesticity, married to the domineering and affluent Valencia Merble, and parenting two enigmatic children - Robert, a rebellious teen, and Barbara, a carbon copy of her overbearing mother. Lastly, Billy is flung light-years away to the alien planet Tralfamadore, held captive in a cosmic zoo alongside his faithful dog Spot and the uninhibited Hollywood starlet, Montana Wildhack. The time he spends on Tralfamadore, under the gaze of its strange inhabitants, begins to unravel the mystery of his temporal turmoil. 'Slaughterhouse-Five' is a hauntingly humorous odyssey that faithfully translates Vonnegut's iconic narrative onto the silver screen. It weaves together the threads of Billy Pilgrim's life - the war-torn past, a mundane present, and an extraterrestrial future, painting a vivid picture of a man living - and surviving - in the relentless grip of time.
