Plot

In the chilling winter of 1971, on the eve of Christmas, a seemingly ordinary family excursion to a nursing home takes an eerie turn. Five-year-old Billy and his baby brother Ricky visit their catatonic grandfather. When Billy is left alone, the grandfather awakens unexpectedly, planting a seed of fear in the young boy's heart with a foreboding warning about Santa Claus, the punisher of the naughty. The journey home shatters Billy's innocence as a man posing as Santa Claus brutally murders his parents right before his eyes. As the horror of the night fades, Billy and Ricky find themselves in a strict orphanage governed by the iron-fisted Mother Superior, a firm believer in severe punishment as an educational tool. Sister Margaret, a beacon of compassion amidst the harsh regime, senses Billy's psychological trauma but her concerns are dismissed by Mother Superior. Fast forward to 1984, the year Billy turns 18. Sister Margaret secures him a job at a toy store, offering a semblance of normalcy. But the tranquil routine is disrupted on Christmas Eve when Billy is tasked to replace an injured colleague and play Santa Claus for the store's patrons. The familiar red suit, combined with the sight of two people in a passionate embrace and the taste of alcohol, awaken the dormant trauma within Billy. His childhood terror transforms into a monstrous reality as he embarks on a chilling murder spree, embodying the twisted version of Santa Claus his grandfather had once spoken of. Billy's dark journey from a scarred child to the embodiment of his deepest fear, a Santa serial killer, weaves a tale of terror and tragedy, making 'Silent Night, Deadly Night' a haunting exploration of the aftermath of trauma.
