In the heart of China, under the glow of the seventh lunar month's full moon, a chilling myth materializes into a horrifying reality. As the Chinese legend foretells, the gates of the underworld fling open, and the spirits of the departed are set loose, wandering among the living. Amidst this spectral chaos, we find Melissa and Yul, an American couple celebrating their honeymoon in this eerie season of phantoms. As outsiders, they are drawn to the exotic allure of the 'Hungry Ghost' festival, a traditional event marking this supernatural period. Their journey takes a twisted turn when their driver, Ping, loses his way and abandons them in his car to seek directions in an isolated village. With the festival's intoxicating spirits still coursing through their veins, Melissa and Yul's initial fascination fades into apprehension as they venture into the ghostly village. The hushed whispers of the locals in a dialect even Yul, with his Chinese heritage, cannot decipher, and houses sealed with live offerings, fill the air with an ominous dread. As the night stretches out, their unease escalifies when they find a wounded stranger, Wei, on a lonely road. Choosing compassion over fear, Melissa decides to help him. However, this act of kindness plunges them into a nightmarish encounter with spine-chilling creatures. They quickly realize that these are not mere superstitions but the very spirits the legend warned about, now hunting the living. In this heart-stopping race against time, Melissa and Yul must navigate through the labyrinth of foreign customs, language barriers and hellish apparitions. Their survival hinges on their ability to understand this ancient custom and find a way to outwit the ghostly predators until the dawn of the new day.
