Plot

"Screaming Eagles" is a gripping World War II saga focusing on a 15-strong platoon of valiant paratroopers, led by the steadfast Lt. Pauling. The platoon is a proud piece of Company D, 502nd Parachute Regiment, 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. As the countdown to the pivotal Normandy landings begins, the platoon is thrown into chaos with the arrival of fresh recruits, hastily trained parachutists, some of whom are from the Merchant Marine. The arrival of these greenhorns sparks tension within the ranks, creating a divide between the newcomers and the battle-hardened veterans. Despite the friction, Lt. Pauling and the reliable Sergeant Forrest strive to maintain unity, quelling disputes before they escalate. In anticipation of their upcoming mission, the platoon is issued passes for a night of celebration. However, their plans are abruptly canceled as the base gates are locked down in preparation for the imminent Normandy invasion. The soldiers, far from disappointed, return to their barracks with a renewed sense of purpose, readying themselves for the journey to France. Even the usually unreliable Private Mason, found inebriated in the dorm, manages to sober up and prepare for the looming mission. Following a nerve-wracking flight across the English Channel, the platoon parachutes into the heart of Normandy, tasked with seizing a crucial bridge to unite with their battalion. But fate has different plans, and due to a nocturnal miscalculation, the platoon ends up landing a staggering 20 miles off their designated drop-zone, right into the midst of a bewildered German battalion.
