Julius Schmitke, a wearied 67-year-old German engineer, finds himself in a remote town on the Czech side of the Ore Mountains, assigned to repair a stubbornly creaky wind turbine. Unbeknownst to him, this crumbling machine harbors a trap from which there seems to be no escape. Mysteriously mirroring his own ageing physique, the old turbine resists his every effort, leaving Schmitke marooned in this rugged, mist-laden landscape. This curious expedition spirals into an enigma as his colleague inexplicably vanishes, and a series of peculiar occurrences ensue. Schmitke, initially a stranger in this secluded town, gradually finds himself enmeshed in its peculiar charm. He experiences the thrill of riding a motorcycle for the first time, cultivates friendships with the town's eccentric inhabitants, and is gently drawn towards the serene spirit of the surrounding forest.
