Plot

In the vibrant city of Bombay, a series of mystifying jewel thefts has left the police baffled. An earnest and upright Police Inspector, Pradhan, is entrusted with this perplexing case. Pradhan enlists the assistance of three dedicated colleagues: Inspector Jagdish, the sharp-eyed Miss Malti Mehra, and the charming Meena. Together, they must disguise themselves as a family, with Meena as the beguiling daughter, Rita, to entice the prime suspect, the suave and rich Ranjit Kumar. Simultaneously, a naïve and unsuspecting musician, Bhola, steps foot in Bombay with dreams of earning money to secure a suitable husband for his physically-challenged twin sister, Belu. Bhola, with his striking resemblance to the elusive Ranjit Kumar, unknowingly crashes a costume party where he meets Ranjit and his captivating mistress, Rita. An unexpected twist ensues as Bhola is manipulated into impersonating Ranjit for social occasions, providing the real Ranjit with ample time to devote to his secretive criminal pursuits. Despite meticulous planning, the jewel robberies continue unabated, even when Ranjit is seemingly occupied with Rita. The baffling question looms over the police: how can one man be in two places at once? The plot thickens further when Meena, masquerading as Rita, finds herself falling irrevocably for the enigmatic Ranjit, a move that threatens to derail their meticulously planned mission. As the relentless chase for the elusive thief intensifies, Bhola finds himself ensnared in a web of deception and intrigue, with an undercover police woman hot on his trail. "Sachaa Jhutha" is a captivating tale of doppelgängers, diamond thefts, and heart-stirring romance, all set against the dazzling backdrop of 1970s Bombay.
