Plot

Barely a stone's throw from the Everglades, known as the "river of grass," Cozy, a disillusioned housewife trapped in a loveless marriage, lives a life of quiet desperation. Lost in dreams of dancing, acrobatics, and gymnastics, she yearns for an escape from her mundane existence, ignoring the demands of motherhood. Her path crosses with Lee, a drifter cloaked in vagrancy, jobless and homeless, his pockets harboring an unexpected secret - her father's handgun, lost during a botched robbery pursuit. A chance encounter at a local bar sparks an unlikely camaraderie between them, fueling an impulsive break-in at a nearby home. A night of mischief ensues, culminating in a startled gunshot. Believing they've killed the homeowner, the duo find themselves thrust into a chaotic flight from imagined prosecution. As they traverse the underbelly of their sundrenched Florida backdrop, an unconventional alliance blossoms between Cozy and Lee. However, their escape is marred by a lack of strategic foresight and the simple absence of a quarter for the road toll. The duo must grapple with their bleak circumstances and navigate a world that seems determined to keep them stagnant. "River of Grass" paints a vivid portrait of two lost souls, ensnared in the grip of a reality they desperately wish to evade, set against the backdrop of the languid, swaying grasslands of the Everglades.
