Plot

In the hustle and bustle of Chicago's corporate sphere, junior insurance lawyers and personal-life partners, Holly Whitman and Carl Lindford, are on the precipice of their career breakthrough. While Carl is swept up in the whirlwind of ambition, material tokens of success, and career advancement, Holly receives life-altering news. Her estranged father, Wade Whitman, a steadfast resident of their quaint hometown of Manion Lake, Alabama, has suffered a heart attack. Despite the impending landmark case that could catapult them into legal stardom, Holly is pulled back towards her roots, navigating the distance in Carl's prized BMW sports car. Upon arriving in the serene surroundings of Manion Lake, Holly steps into a world she left behind. Buried animosities rise to the surface as she confronts her father, Wade, who accuses her of abandoning their family for the allure of city life. Holly, in turn, grapples with her resentment towards Wade for his lack of paternal support following her mother's death. Amidst the emotional turmoil, Holly finds solace in reconnecting with her past and the tight-knit community that still thrives in Manion Lake. She crosses paths with Jay Danville, a recent addition to the town and a war veteran wrestling with his aimless existence after decommission. A spark ignites between them, though Jay steps back upon learning about Carl. The heart of the town beats around a shared fascination - a legendary, record-sized bass in the lake, fondly deemed the "Queen of Sheba". A mythical creature that has become a community obsession, its existence is doubted by many who merely consider it Wade's fanciful tale. As Holly finds herself in the middle of this local fervor, she embarks on a soulful journey, reconciling with her past, understanding her present, and contemplating her future. Reel Love explores the tension between city ambition and small-town solidarity, the complexity of family relationships, and the unexpected paths love can take. This heart-warming narrative unwinds against the backdrop of a community united by folklore, fishing, and the familiar rhythm of life by the lake.
