In the sultry heat of Miami's summer, we meet Israel "Reefa" Hernandez Jr, an 18-year-old Colombian immigrant with a prodigious talent for art. His days are filled with vibrant camaraderie, skateboarding through the pulsating city streets with his friends, and romantic whispers with his new love, Frankie. Amidst the graffiti-splashed walls of Wynwood, Miami's urban canvas, Reefa is poised on the brink of a promising future, set to fly to New York City on an art scholarship. Yet, this brilliant summer also holds a shadow of uncertainty. The tension of awaiting their Green Cards hangs heavy over Israel and his family, while his heart yearns for the elusive recognition of his artistic prowess. As the summer nears its end, Reefa decides to leave a final mark on his city, a graffiti masterpiece that will earn him the respect he so craves. However, on that fateful day of August 6, 2013, his spray paint meets with the cold authority of a police officer, a tragic encounter that leaves his loved ones shattered, Miami in an uproar, and the nation grappling once more with the grim specter of police brutality.
