Plot

In the heart of Dublin, the ordinary life of deliveryman Hubert Flynn takes an extraordinary turn. After a routine evening at the pub, Hubert returns home and, under the watchful eyes of his exasperated wife, Conchita, undergoes a bewildering transformation - he morphs into a rat. The next morning, as Hubert's new form scurries around, leaving remnants of his nocturnal activities on Conchita's precious doilies, an unusual opportunity knocks on their door. Phelim "Felix" Spratt, an opportunistic writer, proposes a peculiar offer. He wants to immortalize Hubert's uncanny metamorphosis in a book, and Conchita, seeing the potential for fame and fortune in their bizarre predicament, accepts. Meanwhile, the household is in turmoil - their seminary-bound son Pius harbors lethal intentions for the rodent patriarch, whereas their daughter Marietta grapples with the dilemma of introducing her boyfriend to her transformed father. As the curious public gathers outside their flat, the family takes a drastic decision - to send Hubert sailing over the fence of a nearby maggot farm. The tension escalates as Christmas approaches, and the prospect of an exorcism looms large. Amidst the chaos, the book documenting Hubert's life as a rat becomes a coveted treasure, a Holy Grail of sorts. But as the snow falls and the Yuletide spirit fills the air, the question remains - what will become of Hubert's extraordinary rat life?
