Plot

In the bustling world of Japanese television production, the news of Aoi's tragic demise in a California plane crash sends shockwaves through the crew, particularly for Tomoya. He's a production assistant who stepped into the shoes Aoi left behind, and now he finds himself reminiscing about the spirited young woman he came to know. Their paths first crossed not in the world of television, but in a quaint record store. Desperate to get closer to a co-worker he fancied, Tomoya attempted to lure Aoi away from her job. What began as a clumsy, self-serving act unexpectedly sparked a connection between two kindred spirits. Tomoya became an unlikely star in Aoi's ambitious student film, "The End of the World", a tale she spun from her dreams and directed with a fiery passion. When her lead actress Kyoko shied away from a kissing scene, Aoi stepped into the limelight, further intertwining her life with Tomoya's. In the midst of the pressures of unfulfilled love and career frustrations, they found solace in each other. Their friendship, seemingly platonic, bore the undercurrents of emotions much deeper. Amidst their complex dynamics, Aoi's younger sister Kana, robbed of her physical sight, emerges as a beacon of clarity. Her unique perspective on life's emotional intricacies offers a poignant contrast to those around her who, despite their sight, remain blind to the depth of their own feelings. Rainbow Song weaves a tapestry of friendship, ambition, unspoken emotions, and the subtle nuances of life, as seen through the eyes of those who knew Aoi, a bright spark extinguished too soon.
