Plot

In the heartrending aftermath of a life-altering tragedy, Becca and Howie Corbett find themselves navigating the choppy seas of grief after their young son, Danny, is tragically killed after chasing his dog into the street. Once a vibrant executive, Becca now spends her days as a stay-at-home mother in a world that has lost its color, a surreal landscape filled with well-intentioned family and friends whose comforting efforts often miss the mark. As the couple grapples with Danny's absence, their coping mechanisms diverge sharply, threatening the foundation of their once blissful marriage. Becca's grief propels her to eradicate every physical reminder of Danny, contemplating a move and even discarding their beloved family dog. She attends a support group with visible hostility, rejecting the idea of becoming like the other grieving parents who have been coming for years or those who link their pain with their faith. On the other hand, Howie clings to the remnants of their past life, craving the familiar touchstones that once defined their happiness. He yearns for the return of their dog, a living testament to Danny's joy, and for the resumption of their once thriving intimate relationship. But Becca seems to be sinking deeper into her sorrow, struggling to accept the support offered by a friend who is at a loss to console her. Their individual journeys are further complicated when Becca's sister, Izzy, announces an unplanned pregnancy, and their mother, Nat, attempts to provide comfort by recounting the death of their brother Arthur from a heroin overdose years ago. These incidents only serve to widen the chasm between Becca and Howie, their marriage teetering on the brink of collapse. In the midst of their emotional turmoil, Becca becomes mysteriously drawn to Jason, the teenage driver responsible for Danny's death. While Howie finds an unexpected connection with Gabby and Kevin from the support group, Becca's growing fascination with Jason offers her a peculiar comfort, pulling her away from the painful memories of Danny. As the Corbetts drift further apart, they make startling and potentially perilous choices, walking a path that will ultimately determine their destiny. Through their poignant and sometimes humorous experiences, 'Rabbit Hole' paints a compelling picture of resilience, forgiveness, and the transformative power of grief.
