Pokkiri (2007)

In the sinister underbelly of Chennai resides Thamizh, a ruthless mercenary, a man devoid of personal ties, who operates in the shadows, carrying out the dirtiest deeds for the highest bidder. His world, soaked in violence and blood, takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with Shruthi, a spirited young woman whose heart becomes entangled with his. Their burgeoning love story, however, is marred by a dual threat. On one hand, Shruthi is repulsed by Thamizh's violent lifestyle, a stark contrast to her own peaceful existence. On the other, her beauty has ensnared the obsessive fixation of Govindan, a police sub-inspector, who relentlessly pursues her with intentions far from honorable. Amidst this tumultuous love triangle, an even more dangerous storm is brewing. The infamous crime lord Ali Bhai, reigning over his empire from distant Dubai, descends upon Chennai with the dual motive of silencing his arch-rival, the formidable gangster Narasimhan, and meeting Thamizh, whose reputation has earned him a fearsome recognition within the gang's ranks. However, an unexpected police raid led by the intrepid Police Commissioner Mohammed Moideen Khan disrupts Ali Bhai's plans, leading to his arrest and leaving his gang scrambling to devise a morally repugnant plan to secure his freedom. But the question remains: Is Thamizh truly the cold-blooded hitman he presents himself as, or does he harbor secrets beneath his hardened exterior? Only time will tell in this thrilling saga of love, deceit, and crime.
