In the heart of Mexico, insurance adjuster Al Colby finds himself entangled in a web of mystery, intrigue and death. Subjected to intense interrogation by Mexican authorities, Colby recounts his saga that began on the sun-drenched streets of Havana, Cuba. Cash-strapped and desperate, he is approached by the unscrupulous antiquities collector, Thomas Berrien, who offers him a lifeline - a thousand dollars to smuggle a package to Oaxaca, Mexico. As they journey across the azure sea, Berrien meets an untimely death in his cabin, leaving Colby with the enigmatic package. His curiosity piqued, Colby opens the package to find a trio of parchments and an arcane stone medal. Soon, he crosses paths with Jefferson, Berrien's arch-rival and a seasoned archaeologist, who throws light on the parchments' significant secret - they hold the key to a hidden treasure buried deep within the ancient Zapotecan ruins of Mitla.
