Pennies from Heaven (1936)

Under the harsh luminescence of a prison cell's light, Larry Poole, a gifted singer, finds himself incarcerated on a baseless charge. His cellmate, a remorseful man on death row, entrusts him with an unconventional vow. This condemned inmate, burdened by guilt over a murder he committed, bequeathes his family estate to the relatives of his victim, pleading Larry to assist them once he regains his freedom.
