Passed Away (1992)

In the wake of Jack Scanlan's (Jack Warden) untimely demise, his son Johnny (Bob Hoskins) finds himself at the crossroads of self-realization, questioning whether he let the essence of life slip through his fingers. Amidst the melancholy and solemnity of the funeral, the entire Scanlan clan gathers, each member carrying their unique burden of life's complexities. Among the attendees is one of Johnny's sisters; a woman grappling with the secret of her recent divorce. Another sister, a nun, has embraced liberation theology, her path intertwined with the life of an illegal immigrant she's sheltering. The battle for control over the deceased patriarch's union unfolds, led by the fiery Tony (Jayce Bartok). In the midst of this familial turmoil, Johnny and his divorced sister, Terry (Pamela Reed), find themselves on the brink of an unexpected romance, their hearts seeking solace in the chaos.
