Plot

In the pulsating heart of London, seasoned MI5 officer Johnny Worricker (Bill Nighy) finds himself entwined in a labyrinth of deceit and moral complexities. Worricker, grappling with personal shortcomings as a divorced father to his estranged adult daughter, is thrown into a maelstrom when his mentor and close friend, Benedict Baron (Sir Michael Gambon), dies suddenly. Baron's parting legacy? A cryptic file capable of shattering the very foundations of the Security Service. The file uncovers a sinister network of unlawful prisons spread globally, operated by the CIA with the damning knowledge and tacit approval of Prime Minister Alec Beasley (Ralph Fiennes). The Prime Minister's chilling ultimatum to Worricker: return the incriminating evidence within twelve hours or face dire consequences. As the clock ticks, Worricker finds an unexpected ally in his enigmatic neighbour and political activist, Nancy Pierpan (Rachel Weisz). Their seemingly chance encounter sparks a clandestine alliance, casting shadows of doubt on the authenticity of their relationship. With his identity and life at stake, Worricker must navigate this treacherous maze, leaving his job and old life behind to unearth the truth. Set against the vivid backdrop of London and Cambridge, 'Page Eight' is a contemporary spy thriller that probes the grey areas of intelligence and morality in the new century, leaving Worricker in a precarious position that tests his resolve and cunning.
