Or (My Treasure) (2004)

At the tender age of 17, Or finds herself shouldering the weight of the world. She navigates the turbulent waters of adolescence while also working evening shifts at a local restaurant and recycling for extra income. Her biggest challenge, however, is her mother Ruthie, a former streetwalker in the pulsating heart of Tel Aviv. Ruthie, fragile and freshly discharged from the hospital, is adoringly called "my treasure" by Or, but she is far from a blessing. Despite Or's efforts to steer her onto a new path with a house cleaning job, the seductive lure of easy money on the streets proves too potent for Ruthie to resist. As if life isn't complicated enough, Or's emotions are thrown into further turmoil when the mother of the boy she's smitten with arrives at their doorstep, issuing a harsh warning to keep her distance. With her love life crumbling and Ruthie seemingly beyond redemption, Or's options begin to dwindle. The narrative paints a vivid portrait of a young woman's struggle to find hope in a world that offers her little.
