Plot

In "One Got Fat" (1963), a spirited band of ten young friends set out on an adventure, pedaling their way through nine city blocks towards a picnic haven nestled in a park. The journey becomes a crucible, testing their commitment to responsible cycling and ownership. To successfully navigate the urban jungle, they must master a myriad of cycling rules and responsibilities. These range from the language of hand signals, faithfully heeding traffic signs, to maintaining their side of the street. Their bikes, symbols of their independence, must be properly registered and ridden solo, respecting the sacred space of sidewalks where applicable, and always ensuring the safety of pedestrians. The young adventurers must keep their two-wheeled steeds in optimal condition, tuning them when necessary and outfitting them with lights or reflectors to overcome the challenges of darkness, including the eerie gloom of unlit daytime tunnels. Each decision they make, each action they take, will either mark them as responsible humans or reckless "monkeys", influencing their chances of reaching the picnic paradise. In this thrilling ride, only the most responsible will succeed in the quest, while the fate of the rest hangs in the balance.
