Plot

In the heart of the Civil War, U.S. Army Lieutenant Steve Nolan and Corporal Banjo Bonner are on a mission to track and apprehend the notorious outlaw leader "El Vengador/The Avenger", whose band is swiping herds of untamed horses before they can be secured by the Army. Disguised as a rugged, scruffy cowboy, Steve finds himself in the midst of Benton, Oklahoma territory, where he stumbles upon the heist of the local post office by Duggan and Higgins, minions of the cunning Arnold Drew, who holds the crucial contract to deliver the horses. When Steve successfully intervenes but gets wounded in the process, the townsfolk mistake him for a member of the outlaw gang. As unconscious Steve is prepared for medical attention in a neighboring town, Drew orchestrates an ambush. Though the deputy escorting Steve pays the ultimate price, a wounded Steve is left at the mercy of a runaway wagon, which eventually dumps him over an embankment. Fortuitously discovered by Donna Ross, Todd Wingate, and Boone Talbot, Steve is whisked away to a secluded hideout in the mountains. The twist in the tale unfolds as Donna is revealed to be El Vengador, leading a band of wronged ranchers against the tyranny of Drew and land agent James Prescott, who have deceitfully seized their lands to monopolize the horse supply contract. Nursed back to health by Donna, Steve returns to Benton with a clean shave and a determination to expose the Drew/Prescott syndicate. However, his intentions are misunderstood by Donna and Todd, who suspect him of treachery, setting the stage for a gripping showdown in this tale of deceit, courage, and redemption.
