In the heart of India, the affluent K navigates life alongside his widowed mother, a translator for the German embassy, and his younger brother, J. K’s life is shrouded in a haze of smoke, a chain-smoking habit he picked up as a child from his friend, Abbas Tyrewala. Now, as the helm of his own business empire, K is married to Anjali, his secretary, whose disdain for his relentless smoking habit is palpable. Abbas, having extinguished his own smoking addiction, fervently encourages K to follow suit. With Anjali’s support, he points K to the unconventional rehabilitation center, Prayogshala, nestled within the labyrinthine lanes of Kalkatta Karpets. K’s initial refusal to seek help unwavers only when Anjali threatens to leave him, her final ultimatum piercing through the fog of his stubbornness. In the aftermath of his discharge, K grapples with his addiction, teetering on the edge of a nightmare.
