Night of Dark Shadows (1971)

Recently wedded Quentin and Tracy Collins find themselves embarking on a new chapter of their lives in Collinwood, a historic New England mansion inherited by Quentin and steeped in the Collins family legacy. The couple graciously invites their close friends, Alex and Claire Jenkins, authors of chilling horror novels, to reside rent-free in a quaint cottage nestled on the sprawling estate. Quentin, an artist by trade, is on the quest for a vibrant space within the mansion to cultivate his craft and unearth fresh inspiration. Carlotta Drake, the stern housekeeper who hails from a lineage of Collins family servants, suggests a room nestled in the mansion's tower. Upon his initial visit to the tower room, where a myriad of paintings hint at a storied past, Quentin is haunted by unsettling visions and night terrors. These include a spectral woman hanging lifelessly from a tree in the mansion's vicinity and a young girl clutching a doll, gazing out from another window of the vast mansion. As Carlotta offers insight into his terrifying experiences, Quentin is confronted with a chilling realization: these ghostly occurrences may pose a dire threat to Tracy. As Quentin's behavior spirals into an unpredictable frenzy, it seems as if he might be under the influence of a sinister force. The Collins' dream of a tranquil life in their inherited mansion becomes a waking nightmare, as the dark secrets of Collinwood threaten to engulf them, casting long shadows over their once bright future.
