In the gilded heart of France, 23-year-old Princess Marie de Namours de la Bonfain is a beacon of sophistication and beauty, whose soul yearns for true love over the empty prestige of a title. As she stands on the precipice of an arranged marriage to a Spanish noble, a loveless union she dreads, her maid, Marietta, comes to bid her adieu.
