In the quaint hometown she's always known, Jen Robbins is a single mother and compassionate journalist, penning human interest stories for the local paper. Despite her richly woven tapestry of life, her Christmas spirit faded into the cold winter air when her ex-husband Paul deserted her and their one-year-old son, Eric, on a frosty Christmas Eve six years ago. Yet, Jen remains resolved to create a joy-filled life for Eric, a young boy who still clings to the enchantment of Santa Claus and the magic of Christmas. Her quest for happiness includes finding a man who can fill the void of the father figure Eric never had. Sam Franklin, the paper's new investigative reporter, seems to be a promising candidate.
However, amidst her aversion to the holiday season, an enigmatic figure named Chris, who plays Santa Claus at the local shopping center, begins to thaw her icy disdain. Little does Jen know, Eric holds a fervent belief that Chris is actually Kris Kringle Jr., the rightful heir to Christmas's mystical charm. Over numerous Christmas seasons, Chris has journeyed from town to town, seeking a special woman to become the next Mrs. Claus and perpetuate the spirit of Christmas for future generations, albeit with no success so far.
The woman he seeks must fully embrace the Christmas spirit for Chris to succeed his father. Believing that Jen is 'the one', he must rekindle her belief in Christmas before the first light of Christmas morning. But convincing a disillusioned Jen to believe in the magic of yuletide isn't going to be a sleigh ride, especially when good-natured, down-to-earth Sam seems like a more realistic match.
