Mutiny (1952)

In the tumultuous times of the War of 1812, the fearless Captain James Marshall (Mark Stevens) is entrusted with a covert mission by the U.S. - to navigate the perilous British blockade and retrieve an unendorsed war loan from France. Marshall enlists Ben Waldridge (Patric Knowles) as his first mate, an enigmatic ex-British Navy Captain marred by a dishonorable discharge. With Waldridge come his loyal ex-crew, their allegiance as unpredictable as the sea, and whispers of mutiny begin to surge through the ship like a storm when the promise of gold on board comes to light. The gold, a gleaming beacon of temptation, eventually arrives, but it brings with it an unexpected twist - Leslie (Dame Angela Lansbury), Waldridge's former lover, a woman as alluring as the precious metal itself. Leslie, too, is unable to resist the lure of the gold, sparking questions about Waldridge's true loyalties. With a ship teeming with avarice and deceit, and the British blockade looming, Captain Marshall finds himself in a treacherous game of cat and mouse. Is Waldridge friend or foe? Will the gold reach its intended destination, or will it ignite a mutiny that could change the course of the war?
