In the captivating mystery film, Murder with Mirrors (1985), the indomitable Miss Jane Marple, portrayed by Helen Hayes, finds herself in the heart of an enigmatic conundrum at the baronial estate of her old friend, Carrie Louise Serrocold, played by Bette Davis. Invited by her lawyer, Christian Gilbranson (John Woodvine), who is also Carrie's stepson, Marple is drawn into a maze of deception and danger lurking within the archaic manor walls.
The estate has been transformed into a rehabilitation sanctuary for young men with criminal pasts by Carrie's loyal husband, Lewis (Sir John Mills). However, beneath the veneer of philanthropy lies a sinister plot as Lewis confides in Marple about his growing suspicion that Carrie is being insidiously poisoned with arsenic.
Among the young men at the estate is Edgar Lawson (Tim Roth), who asserts himself as Lewis's illegitimate son, demanding recognition from his supposed father. The tension escalates when a gunshot echoes through the manor's stone corridors during a heated argument between Lawson and Lewis, and the visiting Gilbranson is found dead in another room.
As the mystery deepens and danger intensifies, it falls upon Miss Marple to unravel the lethal web of secrets. Assisting the gruff Inspector Curry (Leo McKern), she embarks on a quest to uncover the identities of both the murderer and the poisoner, drawing viewers into a thrilling game of whodunit set against the backdrop of an imposing manor house.
