Plot

Set in the year 1763, "Mozart's Sister" is an evocative journey into the relentless life of the Mozart family as they traverse from one royal court to another in their horse-drawn coach, constantly under the fascinated gaze of the aristocracy who find young Wolfgang's musical genius nothing short of extraordinary. Yet before Wolfgang, it was Nannerl, his elder sister by five years, who awed audiences with her vocal prowess, her command over the harpsichord, and her violin virtuosity, who was the family's first prodigious bloom. As the curtain of the film rises, we find Nannerl still on stage, albeit now eclipsed by Wolfgang's burgeoning fame, and confined to the role of his accompanying act. Under the guise of protecting her, their father adheres to societal norms, barring her from pursuing her passion for the violin and composition, yet privately admitting to his wife the magnitude of Nannerl's talent. No longer the endearing child prodigy, Nannerl finds herself grappling with the constraints tied to her gender and fretfully contemplating her future in a world that seems intent on silencing her talent. "Mozart's Sister" is a poignant exploration of hidden genius stifled by societal norms, and a young woman's battle against the odds for her rightful place in the world of music.
