As the nineteenth century bows out to the twentieth, John McCabe, a charismatic yet unsophisticated man with a knack for gambling, rides into the burgeoning mining town of Presbyterian Church. Nestled within the Washington mountains, this town is a canvas of raw potential. McCabe, a figure of quiet bravado, is rumored to be a gunslinger with a recent kill under his belt, casting an intimidating shadow over the town. His winnings fuel his entrepreneurial spirit, leading him to establish a bathhouse and a brothel, staffed by three inexpensive prostitutes from nearby Bear Paw. Soon after, the town's dynamics shift with the arrival of the sharp-witted Constance Miller, a cockney Brit and a professional madam. She proposes a partnership, offering her expertise to elevate the brothel and bathhouse to higher standards, in exchange for a fair share of the profits. Despite her clandestine addiction to opium, a secret McCabe is oblivious to, Mrs. Miller's shrewd management turns the businesses into flourishing establishments. Their success, however, paints a target on their backs. The Harrison Shaughnessy mining company, lured by the prosperous mining deposits in town, sends representatives to buy out McCabe's thriving ventures. Rejecting their offer, McCabe finds himself at odds with the corporate powerhouse, a dangerous game he's ill-equipped to play. He learns from the streetwise Mrs. Miller about the steep price of defiance against such a formidable adversary. As the stakes escalate, the rumored gunslinger in McCabe may need to surface, not only to safeguard his and Mrs. Miller's flourishing businesses, but also to ensure his survival. In the harsh winter of the Old West, McCabe, Mrs. Miller, and the entire town stand on the precipice of profound change, their fates hinging on the choices they make.
