Plot

In the captivating 1987 film, Malone, Burt Reynolds shines as Richard Malone, a hardened ex-CIA agent, haunted by his past and yearning for a fresh start. As he journey's across America seeking solace, fate steers him into the heart of a serene, picturesque town when his car unexpectedly breaks down. Initially, this detour appears to be little more than an inconvenience, but as he immerses himself into the town's fabric, he finds himself forming a bond with a local family. However, beneath the town's quaint facade, a sinister reality unfolds. The town's inhabitants live under the oppressive rule of Charles Delaney, a power-hungry millionaire played by Cliff Robertson. Delaney, with his lofty ambitions of presidency and global dominance, uses fear and coercion to keep his citizens in check. His iron grip extends to the town's law enforcement, with the local sheriff being a puppet in Delaney's ruthless game. Malone soon finds himself entangled in a struggle for justice as the local farmer and his daughter stand up to Delaney's machinations. Their courage sparks Malone's own latent heroism, and he decides he won't allow Delaney's reign of terror to continue unchallenged. Armed with his CIA-honed skills and a resolve hardened by his past, Malone takes on Delaney and his cadre of hired assassins. In this high-stakes tale of power, corruption, and redemption, Malone, the unassuming drifter, becomes an unlikely hero. His journey takes him from running from his past to confronting the present, from solitude to community, and from being a silent observer to becoming the beacon of resistance against an oppressive regime. Malone is a thrilling ride that keeps you on the edge of your seat, rooting for the underdog in a battle against insurmountable odds.
