Plot

Nestled amidst the rural landscapes of India, Laholi is a humble village, its inhabitants leading simple lives under the iron fist of the domineering Landlord, Thakurain, and her intimidating brother, Baj Bahadur. Among these villagers is Lilaram, the most educated yet underemployed man, who ekes out a living selling lottery tickets, including the Delhi-based Malamaal Weekly. Struggling to make ends meet, his life takes a dramatic turn when one of his tickets hits the jackpot. In an attempt to claim the prize, Lilaram hatches a crafty scheme involving his wife and her pet goat, a gala feast, and a desperate quest to retrieve the winning ticket from the villagers. However, his plan spirals into chaos when it's discovered that the lucky winner is the town's infamous drunkard, Anthony Fernandes, who is found dead, his cold hand tightly clutching the coveted ticket. In the ensuing pandemonium, Lilaram and another villager, Balwant, engage in a compromising agreement to share the monumental cash prize. The plot thickens when Kanhaiya, smitten by Lilaram's daughter, Sukhmani, stumbles upon their secret and is roped into their misadventure. The trio's desperate attempt to conceal Anthony's untimely demise results in hilarious mishaps and unexpected alliances, including Anthony's estranged sister, Mary, and her family, who also stake their claim on the lottery winnings. The house of cards threatens to collapse when Anthony's creditors, local businessmen from the village, come knocking on the door to collect their debts, forcing the conspirators to include them in their syndicate. Amid the ensuing chaos, they must convince the Lottery Inspector, Jayesh Agarwal, that Anthony is very much alive, all while keeping their secret safe from Baj Bahadur, who harbors matrimonial aspirations towards Sukhmani. Malamaal Weekly is a wild rollercoaster ride of desperation, deceit, and hilarity, taking you on a journey into the heart of rural India, where every day is a gamble, and where, just sometimes, the underdog can hit the jackpot.
