In the glimmering heart of Las Vegas, Huck Cheever deals life and cards with the same reckless abandon. A gifted poker player, Huck's brilliance at the table is often shadowed by his emotional impulses. His life becomes a high-stakes game as the world series of poker approaches, and the $10,000 entry fee becomes his obsession. His poker prowess turns into a rollercoaster of winnings, losses, debts and desperate measures - including pilfering from Billie Offer, a fresh-faced newcomer who captivates him. As the clock ticks towards the tournament, Huck finds himself in the red, indebted to more than just the poker table. To further stir the pot, his estranged father, a poker legend whom Huck bitterly resents for abandoning his mother, arrives in town with his eyes set on the championship. The question that hangs in the neon-lit air of Las Vegas is whether Huck can master his life like a poker game and navigate his game like his life.
