When Guido, a dedicated Roman bank manager, receives distressing news about his father Armando's ailing health, he embarks on an emotional journey back to his roots in Rosignano Solvay. Leaving his wife Elisa and child behind, he seeks companionship for the voyage, turning first to Jennifer, his estranged mistress. However, her staunch refusal leads him into the arms of the vivacious Anita Watson, a 26-year-old American exploring Rome in search of an Italian architect she once encountered in Chicago. Their journey takes an unexpected turn as they pause in the charming town of Orbetello, their connection deepening amidst its rustic beauty. A spontaneous detour to the serene and desolate Isola del Giglio further cements their bond, creating an intimate tapestry of unexpected emotions and connections.
