Plot

In Love Me Tonight, Maurice Courtelin, a charming Parisian tailor (Maurice Chevalier), finds himself embroiled in a whimsical game of aristocratic deceit after discovering a prestigious client, the Viscount Gilbert de Varèze (Charles Ruggles), has been withholding payment for his sartorial services. Determined to recover his dues, Maurice daringly journeys to the Viscount's opulent chateau, only to be caught up in a desperate ruse devised by the debt-ridden nobleman. In a bid to conceal his financial shortcomings from his wealthy uncle, the Duke D'Artelines, the Viscount introduces Maurice as a distinguished Baron, and convinces him to stay at the chateau until he can pay his debt. The charismatic tailor, now under the guise of nobility, swiftly captivates the hearts of the aristocratic household, with one exception - the icy Princess Jeanette (Jeanette MacDonald). Having had an earlier encounter with Maurice on the road, she remains sceptical of his sudden appearance in her world. However, as the plot unfolds, the frost around the Princess's heart begins to thaw, and a burgeoning romance takes root amidst the luxurious trappings of the chateau. Yet, the question remains: can love truly blossom when shrouded in deception? With an enchanting blend of romance, comedy, and a dash of intrigue, Love Me Tonight weaves a delightful tale that explores the intersection of class, deception, and the undeniable power of attraction.
