Long Lost Son (2006)

In the heart of the Florida Keys, law student Kristen Sheppard's life spirals into despair as she prepares for divorce, driving her husband, Quinn Halloran, to the brink. Their world is further shattered when, during one of his monthly visits with their 4-year-old son, Mark, Quinn's sail yacht, the Ocean Dreamer, is lost at sea in a devastating storm. The wreckage leaves no room for hope, and Quinn and Mark are presumed dead. Fourteen years later, Kristen, now a successful attorney and remarried to Steve Collins, stumbles upon a startling discovery while watching a friend's Caribbean vacation video. A supposedly Canadian father, John Williams, and his son Matthew, running a yacht named Phoenix, bear a striking resemblance to her lost husband and son. The charismatic duo operates Caribbean Dive Adventures, a tourism business on the island of Santa Alicia. Convinced that the athletic and bright Matthew is her long-lost son Mark, Kristen sets out on a daring journey to reclaim her past. Navigating through the island's tranquil blue waters and the labyrinth of her own emotions, Kristen is aided by the Australian-born hotel owner Patrick. She spends a dream-like day at sea with the charming Matthew, who harbors fond memories of a kind mother he believes perished in a fire when he was three. This tragedy supposedly led his father to move from one Caribbean country to another, starting and selling businesses while ensuring Matthew's education. However, as Kristen edges closer to the truth, the island's police officer Boden tips off the unsuspecting Williams duo about her suspicions. In a desperate attempt to maintain their carefully constructed lies, Quinn, now living as John, urges Matthew to leave for Salt Cay immediately, setting the stage for a heart-wrenching race against time.
