Long Day's Journey Into Night (1962)

Under the weight of a single day and night in August 1912, the rickety framework of the Tyrone family buckles and strains. An old, retired actor, James Tyrone, teeters on the edge of regret and bitterness, a shadow of his former success, his hands scarred by the cheap whiskey that's become his only solace. His wife, Mary, once vibrant and full of life, now navigates the murky waters of morphine addiction, seeking refuge in the fragments of her past, her glory days that glitter in her memories as an antidote to her dismal present. Their elder son, Jamie, a man once brimming with potential, now idles away his time in an alcoholic haze, his love for his brother tainted by a dark envy that gnaws at his soul.
