Plot

In the rollicking world of horse racing, a hardened gambler, "Nails" Morgan, and his loyal mate, Todd Harrington, chase their fortunes from one racetrack to the next. Their nomadic lifestyle sees a sudden twist when a sprightly six-year-old orphan, Janet Smith, selects Morgan as her ideal father. Escaping the confines of her orphanage, she thrusts herself into Morgan's unsuspecting life, inadvertently becoming his lucky charm by providing him with winning hunches through her innocent words and actions. Sensing a golden opportunity, Morgan returns Janet to the orphanage only to audaciously abduct her, viewing her as his ticket to a prosperous future. Unbeknownst to the realities of the situation, a well-meaning Irish cop intervenes, forcing Morgan to marry his longtime love, Madge Perry, to provide Janet with a proper family setting. This motley crew then embarks on a whirlwind journey to the sun-drenched racetracks of California, becoming proud horse owners and amassing a hefty fortune. However, their dream run is punctuated by a harsh reality check as they find themselves facing a federal court trial, accused of kidnapping their cherished little good-luck charm. Little Miss Thoroughbred serves up a heartwarming tale of unconventional families, unpredictable fortunes, and the undeniable bonds of love, all against the vibrant backdrop of the American horse-racing circuit.
