Plot

In the heart of France, a shadowy businessman, on the precipice of arrest for unforgivable crimes against his country, desperately plots his escape. His path fatally intertwines with William, a humble dry cleaner with an unassuming private plane. Their joint flight from justice is abruptly cut short when they crash land on a deserted island, trading their urban lives for a tragically comedic Robinson Crusoe existence. Struggling against the harsh realities of their new environment, they attempt to replicate the civilization they left behind, building a raft that offers them little more than circular journeys and dashed hopes. However, William stumbles upon an astonishing discovery - a thriving civilization, hidden just beyond their sandy seclusion, where everyone's tongues wag about the infamous criminal whose face graces the headlines of every newspaper. As William luxuriates in a lavish hotel, he smuggles out bits of civilization -- scraps of food, news from the outside world -- to his stranded companion. The two men, so different in their past lives, must navigate the complexities of their present situation, caught between freedom and the relentless pursuit of justice, between isolation and civilization. In this satirical survival tale, "Les Naufragés" (2016) explores the lengths men will go to escape their past, only to find themselves ensnared by it on the other side of paradise.
