Plot

In the tempestuous grip of a dark and stormy night, a motley crew of individuals, led by gangster Ulysses Pick, audaciously infiltrate a police-besieged house - a labyrinthine dwelling that the law dares not enter until the storm subsides. The house, once home to Ulysses, his wife Hyacinth, and their four children, conceals a mystifying open-air quadrangle in its heart, where a bottomless bog lies ominously. Their mission: to capture a young man held captive in the house, a task accomplished despite three untimely casualties. The eclectic group includes Ulysses' French-speaking mistress Rochelle, and Heatly, a young man Ulysses adopted after he killed one of Ulysses' sons. Ulysses re-enters this spectral abode, bearing a water-soaked, seemingly blind and comatose young woman who springs to life upon entering the house. With the rest of the group confined to a single room, Ulysses embarks on a private mission with the young woman and the bound young man, traversing the house's locked doors, the secrets behind which are solely glimpsed through their keyholes. Their mission, guided by Ulysses' memory and a stuffed wolverine named Crispy, is to find Hyacinth. Sequestered in the house's highest chamber, Hyacinth is discovered alongside her naked father, Calypso, chained to her bedpost. Ulysses' quest to find Hyacinth is not to see her but to remember, to reconcile with the specters of the past so that the innocent, living and deceased, can finally find peace. Amidst the friction within the ranks and the haunting memories that linger in the house's every corner, Ulysses and his gang must complete their mission before dawn breaks, navigating the labyrinth of the house and the labyrinth of their pasts. The house becomes the canvas of Ulysses' emotional journey, unveiling the enigmatic past and complex dynamics of the Pick family, room by room, memory by memory.
