Plot

In the pulsating heart of West Bengal, India, a peculiar rebellion brews, fueled by the supernatural and the politically disenfranchised. Fyataroos, the extraordinary flying humans, and Choktors, practitioners of the dark arts, form an unlikely alliance under the leadership of Bhodi, the Choktor chief, against the reigning communist regime. Guided by the sagely wisdom of Dandabayash, the immortal talking crow, and the time-touched insight of Indo-colonial hybrid, Begum Johnson (1732-1818), they ignite a historic uprising. This rebellion is not one of mundane battles, but of spectral skirmishes and guerrilla engagements. Skulls pirouette in the fire-lit crematoria, flying discs whir in the skies echoing the chaos below, while the spectral residents of the city engage in cryptic chatter, adding to the pandemonium. The police are left floundering in confused desperation as the government is coerced into a corner, offering a shaky olive branch to the insurgent force. Kangal Malsat is a fantastical exploration of the city's underbelly, wielding satire and fantasy as incisive surgical tools. It paints a vivid, anarchic picture, dissecting the city's multifaceted maladies with a lens steeped in audacious farce and whimsical imagination. The film is as much a socio-political commentary as it is an embrace of the wild, chaotic, and beautifully unpredictable nature of rebellion.
