For four long years, Danny's heart has been tethered to the vibrant streets of Brooklyn, even as he marched to the drumbeats of war. Yet, upon returning, he discovers a Brooklyn that no longer matches his rose-tinted memories. Seeking solace, he befriends Nick, the familiar face who keeps the hallways of his old High School immaculate, and together, they create a home within the echoes of the past. In the heart of a music store, Danny's voice takes flight, resonating with the rhythm of his beloved borough. His life intertwines with that of Leo, a pianist with nimble fingers and a dream as lofty as the skyscrapers - to play under the grand chandelier of an Opera house. Their duo expands with the addition of Anne, Leo's teacher whose own aspirations mirror Leo's, her voice striving to dance within that same grand operatic theatre. The quartet is completed by the arrival of Jamie, an Englishman whose music still clings to the old world. Eager to guide him through the pulsating pulse of modern swing and the Brooklyn way of life, Danny takes Jamie under his wing. In the midst of their personal journeys, the group bands together, their shared goal as harmonious as their music - to help Leo capture the coveted Brooklyn Music scholarship and realize his dream.
