In the sun-drenched, sultry setting of Saint Tropez, 1975, lives the tantalizingly beautiful Julie Wormser, a young woman bound in marriage to Louis, a wealthy businessman infatuated with her youth and beauty. Age and ailments have rendered Louis impotent, his heart weak from a previous attack and his self worth drowned in alcohol. The disparity of 18 years between them creates a chasm filled with dissatisfaction and longing.
Enter Jeff Marle, a charmingly mediocre writer with a penchant for flying kites and a magnetic pull that draws Julie into his arms. Their passionate affair soon spirals into a sinister plot to murder Louis. As the moon bathes Saint Tropez in its silvery glow, Julie strikes a lethal blow to Louis' head and Jeff, taking over the dark dance of deceit, carries the lifeless body onto his yacht, preparing to consign it to the sea's oblivion.
In a calculated move to create an alibi, Jeff journeys to Italy in Julie's Datsun. Julie, playing the distraught wife, reports Louis' disappearance to the police the following morning, drawing the seasoned Inspectors Villon and Lamy of Paris into the twisted tale.
As the mystery deepens, the police discover the yacht eerily anchored offshore and Julie's Datsun wrecked at the foot of a cliff.
