Plot

On an ordinary day in November 1959, renowned author Truman Capote stumbles upon a news article about the brutal murder of the Clutter family. Intrigued, and with no suspects in sight, he ventures into the quiet town, accompanied by his close friend Harper Lee. His intent? To pen a narrative capturing the town's reaction to this unfathomable tragedy. But first, he must coax the tight-lipped locals into sharing their stories and gain entrance to the prison housing the now-captured killers. One prisoner is an open book, the other, Perry Smith, is a fortress of silence. Capote, relentless and driven, believes this exploration will pioneer a new genre of journalism. But to do so, he must decipher Perry's desires. As their relationship evolves from mere writer and subject, Capote is faced with a haunting question - does he extract his story through calculated manipulation, or will there be a cost to bear? This chilling narrative probes the thin line between cold-blooded murder and cold-hearted exploitation, exploring the depths to which one man will go for his art.
