I Went Down (1997)

Newly released from prison, Git finds himself thrust back into the seedy underbelly of the city when he saves his ex-best friend from the ruthless hands of loan sharks. This act of valor, however, lands him in hot water with the formidable mob boss, Tom French. Caught in the crosshairs of danger, Git is dispatched to Cork alongside the unpredictable Bunny Kelly, a fellow debtor, on a mission to locate a man named Frank Grogan. Their task is not as straightforward as it appears. Git, green in the world of crime, grapples with Bunny's reckless tendencies, while Frank proves to be an elusive target with empty pockets. The plot thickens when the suspicion arises that Tom might be plotting to assassinate Frank, plunging Git into a moral quandary. The narrative is further complicated by the unresolved mystery surrounding the long-gone Sonny Mulligan. As an honorable lad caught in a web of deception and crime, Git must navigate this treacherous landscape. The journey takes him to a shack nestled across a murky bog, a rendezvous point with a man whose friendly exterior masks something more sinister.
